Nanny State: More Rights lost
News Story: Feds: Fresh milk 150 times more dangerous than pasteurized dairy – Washington Times:
Yes I know what many of you will say, “The Feds have every right to monitor the sell of milk across state lines.” Beleive it or not I agree but disagree on the reasons. Yes in the Constitution the Feds have every right to monitor and restrict the sale of any item across the state lines under the Commerce Clause. But just because they can doesn’t mean they should.
How can I say that?
Very simply. If I so choice to drink raw milk I should and do have the right to do so under the Declaration of Independence. It is part of my freedoms of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. If the government chooses to pick and choose everyone’s basic freedoms, then where will they stop? When will it matter to you and your personal freedoms? Are you willing to take another’s freedoms and risk yours?
