Your Freedom of Speech

News Story: Judge orders VA cemetery to allow Jesus | Houston & Texas News | Chron.com – Houston Chronicle:

I’m not sure what bugs me more on this story, the fact that the VA is trying to block someone’s 1st amendments or that there should even be the question of the rights of this preacher or anyone else on hollowed ground of men that fought and died to give the people of the US the rights in the first place!

Let’s face it, the 1st amendment does not say you must or must not be of a certain religion but that you have the right to practice your religion without the government forcing or prohibiting the freedom of it. Then on top of that it also states that you have the freedom of speech… Not a limit of it! The fact of the matter is that even if it was a Buddhist saying the prayer, those of other faiths should stand and be respectful.

As for the Rabbi that said we should stand united on this day… Yes we should. We should do it by respecting the reason those men and women died… For each person to have the freedom to choose their faith or lack of it without fear of the government controlling it.
